Recently we took Erica for her first hiking trip. She loves being outdoors and she had a wonderful time staring up at the trees and "talking" to her daddy.
We started our fall break with Erica's 4 month check-up. Unfortunately for Erica that meant more shots. She cried big alligator tears and cuddled her mommy tight. It was really pitiful. The good part of the appointment was when the doctor said that some of the behaviors that Erica was displaying were advanced for her age and she shows signs of great intelligence. Erica continues to grow and is now 25 3/4 inches long and 18lbs 6oz. After such a big afternoon at the doctor's office Erica was asleep as soon as she sat in her car seat.
The next day Erica and I went to Mimi and Popi's house. Owen decided that since he had outgrown his excersaucer that Erica could use it and it was an instant hit! After a brief visit and snuggle with Makayla and Owen we headed up to Banner Elk with Mimi and Popi to visit Ed and Julie Fenske. The fall leaves were absolutely breathtaking and it was so good to be back in Banner Elk after such a long time. Erica loved Ed and Julie. Ed prayed a blessing over Erica that she would have the same strong anointing and gentle spirit as her Oma Bartels.
Back at Mimi's house we had our story and scripture time with Makayla and Mimi. Erica was battling a fever (those nasty shots) and Makayla prayed that God would take the fever away quickly. After her prayer she felt Erica's head and said, "It's already getting better." I love her faith!!
Well, the plan was to dress Erica up as a sweet pea (pea pod) for trunk-r-treating... she'll only tolerate the costume for about 5 minutes I'm so glad I got it at the consignment sale. I think she's adorable, but I am a little partial. Happy Halloween!
